FAQ

Answers for Your Family's Peace of Mind

We understand that choosing assisted living for a loved one comes with many questions. Our goal is to provide clear, transparent, and empathetic answers to help you make an informed decision with confidence. As a proud member of the Culture Care Senior Living family, our “Care is Our Culture” philosophy means we are here to support your family every step of the way. Here are some of the most common questions we hear, and the answers that will give you peace of mind.

Helping You Decide & Transitioning into Care

Who is eligible for admission?

We are committed to a resident-first approach. Our eligibility criteria are designed to ensure we can provide the best possible care. Residents must be able to move with some independence, whether with a cane, walker, or crutches, and be able to transfer without chronic assistance. We also welcome individuals with continuous oxygen needs, incontinence of bowel and/or bladder, and insulin-dependent diabetes into our Personal Care services, as these needs can be managed through our Assisted Living and Levels of Care programs.

How does the admissions process work?

We’ve made the process as simple and supportive as possible. You can start by calling us at 716-483-2876 to set up an interview for the potential resident. This interview can be held at any of our facilities, or we are happy to meet at their home, a hospital, or a nursing home. The process involves a simple screening, a short application, and a medical form completed by the resident’s physician. Once these steps are finished and subject to availability, admission can be scheduled.

How do you support the emotional transition for my loved one?

We understand that moving is a major life change. Our team is highly experienced in guiding residents through this transition with patience and empathy. We encourage families to help personalize their new space with familiar items and stay involved, especially during the first few weeks. Our goal is to make them feel at home and part of our family as quickly as possible.

What if my loved one is resistant to the idea of moving?

It’s completely normal for a loved one to feel resistant to change. The best approach is to involve them in the decision-making process from the very beginning. We recommend visiting our communities together and framing the move in a positive light, focusing on the social benefits, new opportunities, and the relief from daily burdens. We are also happy to provide resources and guidance on how to have these conversations.

Daily Life & Community Services

How are physician's services provided?

We have expanded our in-house medical services to provide convenience and peace of mind. Two local physicians hold regularly scheduled office hours at Tanglewood Manor. For diagnostic needs, Preventative Diagnostics offers x-rays and other testing on-site, and ACL Laboratories provides in-house blood draws. We also offer monthly appointments for podiatry and optometry services.

Can residents keep medication in their rooms?

For the safety and well-being of all our residents, all prescription medications are stored and administered by our dedicated staff at a designated medical aide station. However, with a doctor’s written order, over-the-counter medications can be kept in a resident’s room.

Are phones and TV's permitted in resident rooms?

Yes, we want our residents to feel at home. Every resident is welcome to have their own telephone and television service. Tanglewood Group also provides an alternative cable source that can offer cost savings and same-day service for hookup.

Is there mail service?

Yes, we handle all mail services for our residents. Mail is delivered to our front office, sorted, and then delivered directly to each resident’s room. Our staff is also available to help with administrative tasks, such as insurance claims and bills.

When are meals served?

Meal times vary slightly by community to accommodate the needs of our residents and ensure a pleasant dining experience.

  • Breakfast: 8:00 am at Memory Garden, C-Wing, and Cottages on the Pond; 8:30 am at A-Wing and Comfort Today; 7:05 am at The Magnolia.
